The KZN Inland U15 cricket team for the National Week in Stellenbosch from 7 to 11 December contains a good mix of prolific run scorers and wicket-takers.
Feature image: Hilton College U15A captain Nick Hatton has been a heavy run-scorer this year.
With my focus being primarily on the KZN10.com schools’ first XI cricket teams, I have only been able to watch a few of the selected cricketers in this KZN Inland U15 side.

Therefore my comments below are only targeted at the players I have seen, mostly due to my being in the right place at the right time.
I have no doubt that their team-mates also possess numerous attributes.
What has struck me, of those I have had the privilege of watching, is that the team contains a number of batsmen capable of making big scores on a regular basis.

Hilton College’s Nick Hatton and Christopher Pistorius, Maritzburg College’s Slade van Staden and Michaelhouse’s Adrien Fisher are technically correct enough to bat for long periods due to their sound defence, and also possess an array of strokes and appropriate shot selection to accelerate the run rate when needs be.
Of the bowlers I have seen, Hilton College’s Mathew Boast has pace and aggression up front, Mathew Erasmus of St Charles College is a quality bowling (serious in-duckers) all-rounder with BMT when the chips are down.
Christopher Pistorius is an artful spinner who is able to read game situations and apply pressure on the batsmen accordingly.
